NASCAR has purchased the Iowa Speedway, the association announced earlier this week, along with a six-event calendar for the short track between May 17 and August 2.
Designed by former NASCAR Winston Cup champion Rusty Wallace, the Iowa Speedway has a 0.875-mile asphalt paved tri-oval track. It was opened in 2006 and hosted a few IndyCar and NASCAR events before facing financial issues in recent years.

"Iowa Speedway is a great entertainment facility with a very bright future," said Eric Nyquist, NASCAR vice president, strategic development. "The facility has the support of the region, it's positioned well in the heart of the Midwest, and year in and year out it provides great short-track racing action for motorsports fans.”

2014 Iowa Speedway event schedule:

May 17 - NASCAR K&N Pro Series East vs. West Challenge
May 18 - NASCAR Nationwide Series
July 11 - American Ethanol 200, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
July 12 - Iowa Corn Indy 300, IndyCar Series
August 1 - NASCAR K&N Pro Series East vs. West Challenge
August 2 - NASCAR Nationwide Series
