MotoGP Appoints New Global Broadcast Rights Agent

MotoGP has always been an attractive motorsport championship with millions of fans all around the world. This turned the sport competition into a real business which led to million dollar contracts and strategic marketing moves meant to boost  profits. Dorna Sports, the holder of MotoGP commercial and TV rights, has just announced that IMG Sports Media has been appointed as the “exclusive global agent for broadcast right sales for the next three years,” as mentioned in a PaddocTalk report.

All three MotoGP series currently host extremely interesting duels as most teams invest more and more resources in new technologies, aerodynamic designs, motorcycles and tires.

“MotoGP is a first-class property, and IMG is delighted to partner with Dorna. Together we will bring its media coverage to new heights,” Michel Masquelier, Executive Vice President IMG Media, Head of Acquisition and Sales Worldwide, commented on the deal.

“We are very excited to be working closely with IMG in order to maximise MotoGP’s potential worldwide and continue to grow the sport’s fanbase. IMG is a world leader in its field, and deals with TV rights for the biggest sports in the world, so we believe MotoGP will undoubtedly benefit from this collaboration,” Manel Arroyo, Managing Director Dorna Sports, added.

Ioris Francini, Senior Vice President IMG Media, admitted that MotoGP is an attractive championship that could gain huge audience especially in those countries that host a MotoGP Grand Prix.

“MotoGP is pure adrenaline from green light to chequered flag and a premium audiovisual product manufactured and delivered at the best standards available today. We are immensely proud to be working with Dorna and with a sport that is so attractive to key TV demographics,” he said.
