MotoCzysz Launches Electric D1g1tal Dr1ve

A new line of fully integrated electric drive systems designed for the next generation of electric vehicles and series hybrids has been recently unveiled by American based motorcycle company MotoCzysz in China. What is said to be the world’s first fully integrated electric drive system - the D1g1gital Dr1ve D1 - is scheduled for delivery in May 2011, for under $,8999.

The D1g1tal Dr1ve D1 incorporates motor, inverter, oil pump, gear reduction and differential, all housed in a lightweight aluminum case.

“The complete integration of components makes the D1g1tal Dr1ve a true “plug and play” alternative, dramatically reducing the typical design time and costs associated with electric vehicles,” a company statement reads.

The integrated drive technology housed in the D1g1tal Dr1ve powered the MotoCzysz E1pc motorcycle to two race wins and two track records in 2010, at the Isle of Mann TT, and to over 163 mph (262 kph) at Bonneville.

The D1 makes a continuous 60kW and 75kW peak power and over 1000 Nm drive torque in a package weighing less than 150 lbs (68 kg), making it an ideal solution for small commuter vehicles and light duty trucks or utility vehicles.

The D1 is designed to accommodate either front or rear wheel drive vehicles. A complete line of even more powerful and innovative D1g1tal Dr1ves are currently being designed and tested.

“There is a full range of D1G1TAL DR1VE models currently in different stages of testing and design to suit the specific needs of small commuting vehicles, larger luxury sedans, light/medium duty vans and trucks and extreme super cars. The first model of the D1G1TAL DR1VE, is targeted for compact electric vehicles and light duty vans and trucks,” the company says.
