Mini Cabrio History

This should have been a story about the pros and cons of open top motoring and a long dissertation on how Mini cabrio came to be. A boring essay describing the hows and whys of a type of vehicle that even if not all of us would buy, most surely all of us would admire. Especially in the hot summer days, when air conditioning in our sedans just doesn't seem to cut it.

Instead, we chose to go the Mini way. A simple, minimalist method of highlighting not a trait, but a way of thinking. A story without three big breasted women partying on the back seat of your convertible (for the men) or a Herculean shaped body behind the wheel (for the women). Or the other way around, depending on your sexual preferences.

Bluntly called "Mini Cabrio. History", the video you can see below has nothing to do with the brand's history. And neither does it try to fill your head with fat, juicy superlatives about the convertible, cabrio, open top or whatever you want to call it.

Then why talk about it? This is not Mini's first attempt of advertising their vehicles in videos that emphasize its main downside. We already saw Mini, water and a bunch of dudes (odd choice, wouldn't you say?) getting themselves into all kinds of predicaments.

Well, this time it's not about the dudes, but as we said, about a way of thinking. No matter what we, in the automotive press say, nor what they, in the automotive industry do, once a cabrio sucker, always a cabrio sucker.

If not even water, the convertible's worst enemy, doesn't persuade you to give up a cabrio, than the benevolent friend, who always keeps you up to speed with why NOT to go for an open top, stands no chance of doing so. And you can even go ahead and slap him a bit.
