Just a little over a week separates us from the biggest US auto show of the fall and brands around the world are getting together to see just what cars they should bring out. MINI seemingly made up its mind and decided to keep the JCW Hardtop hidden still.
That’s the one car everybody wants to see. Sure, the 5-door hardtop is interesting as well but nothing compared to a good old John Cooper Works model. Speaking of the new hardtop, it’s going to be making its US premiere at the LA venue.
The second body version of the new MINI has two additional doors as well as expanded space for both occupants and luggage. Don’t expect them to be anywhere as impressive though. They are just there to make sure people get a bit more versatility than expected from such a car.
Of course, tune in to MINI’s marketing and you’ll soon find out that the new model represents “the first time in the brand's 55-year history, MINI is now represented in the small car category with a 5-door model.” But the question is: did anyone want this?
Apparently, yes as a lot of customers are already interested in the new model. At the same time, a lot of fans of the brand don’t even wanna hear about it. For them, the rest of the line-up should suffice.
It’s basically a study that wants to know if a compact roadster with a special design would be appealing. If MINI’s driving fun is also infused in it, we guess it will be selling like hot cakes (if it’s also priced right).
The car is electrically driven and the body was built with the best materials around. Inside, aluminum goes all the way and even though it was created by Superleggera, it’s still showing typical MINI clues all over the place. Furthermore, the same can be said on the outside, where the front fascia features the same round headlights while the taillights have a hidden Union Jack motif. You’ll be able to see all of that in LA for yourself starting on November 21.

Next to this US premiere, the MINI Superleggera Vision Concept will also be shown, crossing the ocean for a second time.
