With the unsustainable Maybach out of the market, Mercedes-Benz is still looking to offer an ultra-luxurious, extended wheel base S-Class. The Germans have been talking about this for quite a while, and it’s no longer a mystery that it will bear the famous Pullman nameplate.
Speaking to Automotive News, Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche reconfirmed that a “super S-Class” is scheduled to arrive in 2015 to take on Rolls-Royce and Bentley models. It will carry a price tag between $200,000 and $250,000, which will make it significantly cheaper when compared with the $470,000 Maybach 62S.

More specifically, Zetsche claims the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Pullman will be a direct competitor for Rolls-Royce’s Ghost and Bentley’s Flying Spur sedan. It’s too early to tell whether the Pullman will cope with this role, but the arrival of the new tri-star flagship should mark the beginning of an interesting duel in this niche.

Other details have yet to be revealed, but we have some very relevant spyshots with the 2015 S600 Pullman taken about two weeks ago.
