At first glance, this could sound like just another Chinese market spotting of a car the rest of the world already has, but it's really not that. Yes the GL-Class is available from London to Detroit, but this model is a little different.
The badges firmly planted on the boot of the car say this is a GL400 4Matic. Obviously, the 4Matic part is not surprising, but the GL is only built in these engine configurations: L350, GL350 BlueTEC, GL500, GL550, and GL63 AMG.

We think the easiest answer is that it's been equipped with the new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that's going into the E-Class facelift soon. That engine produces 333 hp and would be a good match for the GL.

However, carnewschina.com points out a Chinese-market hybrid called the E400L is actually powered by the hybrid V6 used by the E400 Hybrid in Europe. That car has a naturally aspirated V6 mated to an electric motor producing a combined 306 hp.

Whichever engine is going to be used, we're looking at a new V6-powered GL-Class, probably coming to Europe and America as well.
