Mercedes G-Class Recalled Due to Serious Interior Trim Issue

We’re bringing you the latest recall-related piece of news and this involves the... are you ready? Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The carmaker’s US arm recently announced that it is recalling a limited number of units due to an interior trimming issue.
When we first read the info, we thought that this would be a minor problem, but it turned out to be the exact opposite. The good part is that just 189 units of the G550 and G55 AMG belonging to the 2011 model year. As for the bad part, the reason for the recall is that, in the event of an accident where the front passenger airbag is deployed, certain parts of the airbag cover element could set themselves free and “become a projectile in the passenger compartment.”

Mercedes-Benz is set to notify owners and start the campaign in September, with dealers reinforcing the connection between the molding strip and the air bag cover flap free of charge.
