The king is dead, long live the king!... just that the king is still up and running. No, we’re not dizzy from any test-drive or something, this is just our way of announcing that even though Mercedes-Benz has just presented a facelift for the CL (covering both the standard and the AMG versions), Expression Motorsport is offering a wide body kit for the outgoing model, more specifically for the flagship CL65 AMG model.
The kit comes with a new front bumper, that includes daytime running lights that use LED technology and halogen fog lights, with the new lighting elements integrated in the side air intakes. The pack also includes wheel arch extensions and new side skirts that use a bold design.
At the back of the vehicle, we can find a fresh bumper design that incorporates a massive diffuser with four air fins, as well as quadruple exhaust tips that use an oval design.
Unfortunately, the modification pack doesn’t include any technical changes. This means that under the long hood of the coupe, we can find the factory stock V12 powerplant. The engine, which has a displacement of 6.0 liters, lets the driver enjoy every one of its 612 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque (999 Nm).
The unit takes the large coupe past the 62 mph (100 km/h) mark in 4.2 seconds. If the driver keeps on stepping on the pedal on the right, the fun will go on until the vehicle’s electronic speed limiter kicks in (155 mph or 250 km/h). But since we’re talking about the tuning world, removing the limiter shouldn’t be a difficult task.
