Mercedes-Benz’s UK arm has appointed Mike Whittington as its new Sales Director, with the move becoming effective on the 1st of June.
Whittington, who started working for the German company three years ago, will replace Simon Oldfield, who will become Managing Director Customer Services Group, Mercedes-Benz Cars.
The executive currently serves as the carmaker’s Network Operations Director. In his role, Whittington has led multiple new projects that have involved the brand’s passenger car and commercial vehicle retail partners. In addition to that, he has brought a major contribution to the company’s Best Premium Franchise” passenger car strategy, which is currently being implemented throughout the automaker’s entire dealer network.
Whittington entered the automotive industry stage with Peugeot as a graduate trainee and held a number of sales and marketing positions including field management roles. Subsequent to that, he joined Toyota/Lexus, where he was involved in a wide variety of fields, including After Sales, Strategy and Planning, Network Development and Sales & Marketing.
“Mike brings significant experience and enthusiasm to this important role and I am delighted we have been able to choose someone from within the company to drive our Passenger Car Strategy forward,” said Dermot Kelly, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars.
Mercedes-Benz UK has recently announced that will modify its vehicle range, as it will re-introduce the G-Klasse (the automotive producer's longest-serving passenger car series) to the country after a ten-year absence.
