Mercedes promises that the model will be delivered on time for the upcoming racing season, which is scheduled to debut in February next year. The gullwing racer retails for a price of EUR334,000/ $436,500 (EUR397,460/ $519,374 with VAT included) and is only available with left-hand drive.
Mercedes has already debuted a special test program for the vehicle, with the project involving Bernd Schneider, a Mercedes-Benz test-driver for many years and the DTM driver with the most titles. The tests debuted in June, with the first competition included in the program being the VLN (Association of Nürburgring Endurance Cup Organisers, with 10 motorsport clubs) race that will take place on the Nurburgring Nordschleife at the end of September.

AMG will work together with our tried-and-trusted sports and touring car partner HWA to put in place a motorsport customer department which will guarantee its motorsport customers hallmark Mercedes service," said Mercedes-Benz motorsport chief Norbert Haug.
Mercedes-AMG and its SLS AMG GT3 motorsport partner HWA will also provide service and replacement parts assistance for teams in Europe.
The vehicle is suitable for all the race series that follow the FIA GT3 regulations, such as the FIA GT3 European Championship, the ADAC GT-Masters, the endurance championship held by VLN and the 24-hour races at the Nurburgring or Spa-Francorchamps.
