The GL has always had a bit of an interesting appearance. With this second generation, Mercedes has done a nice job at wrapping the full-size stature of the car in nice overall package. This is why the GL, especially in AMG guise, doesn’t look out of place in a pic such as the one above.
Here on the crowded streets, you’ll have to rely on the GL’s cooperative steering and perhaps on its surround-view camera system. Fortunately, both are well implement, so you should go over the difficult moments pretty quick.
We found the twin-turbo M159 V8 to be just as ready to serve as ever, despite the sheer mass of the GL63 AMG. Aided by its pretty vocal exhaust, the V8 delivers plenty of thrills.
What we should’ve done is give you a photo of the dashbaord, but the GL’s practical side is simply to strong to ignore. For instance, its boot capacity tops that of a Range Rover.
