One of the equally most hated and loved vehicles in the current (and previous) Mercedes-Benz range is obviously the legendary G-Class.
It is candidly called the G-Wagon in the US, because of a misconception about the model's name, which comes originally from Gelandewagen (off-road car).
Despite that the current G-Class model range is based entirely on the five-door version - and a special variant, such the bonkers G 63 AMG 6x6, from time to time - with the three-door and the cabriolet having been taken out of the equation, sales of the car have tripled in the last couple of years.
This is probably the main reason for Mercedes-Benz extending the manufacturing contract with Magna Steyr until 2019, as official sources have announced.
The Austrian Magna Steyr plant in Graz just recently let everyone know that they've concluded a newly-built production area for the model, which features an improved assembly flow and production capacity to be better prepared for the increased demand. In other words, lovers and haters of the model should rest assured that the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is here to stay for at least six more years.
