Mercedes-Benz has shown the world that it is really capable of erasing the border between a coupe and a sedan, setting new design trends on the market that no only increase company sales but also secure another page in the automotive history book.

Some examples that come to illustrate this are both generations of the CLS, as well as the E-Klasse Coupe. We’re sure that the automaker will continue to follow this pathway and we just can’t wait to see the results.

However, it is now time to be ahead of... the time. Let’s see what would happen it this concept was taken a few steps forward. Of course, for this trip we have to turn to an independent designer. Our search for such a creator stopped when we virtually met Nikita Kalinin, an American that brought the Mercedes-Benz EL500 Luxury Sedan concept to the (virtual) world. This is a luxury sedan for the future that comes to offer interesting solutions, both in terms of design and engineering.

The vehicle is powered by an all-electric drive twin battery system that uses two silent high-torque motors, each of them powering an axle through its own CVT transmission. The energy comes from a Li-Ion permanent battery mounted at the front, as well as from a quick change cartridge battery, which is placed at the rear of the vehicle. The system could offer a driving range as high as 300 miles (483 km).

But the car isn’t all about three-hugging, as the designer’s view includes a high-end interior packed with a single seating solution for the rear, Internet connection, privacy control and others.
