Even though the top of the range version of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205 hasn't been introduced on the market yet, the Germans have a number of pre-production prototypes that have been handed to certain members of the press for reviewing.
Until the C 63 AMG W205 gets launched it is the C 400 - especially in 4Matic all-wheel drive guise - who will play the role of most powerful C-Class in the lineup.

Powered by the M278 DELA 30 engine, which is a twin-turbocharged V6 with three liters of displacement, the new model comes to take a chunky bite out of the BMW 335i and the Audi S4 market.

Looking at the numbers, the 333 hp (not 328 hp as the reviewer below states at one point, ed) and 480 Nm (354 lb ft) of torque are slightly better than those of the aforementioned competitors, while the drastic reduction in weight that the new C-Class experienced should also work in its favor from the performance point of view.

Paired with the Airmatic suspension with five (not four, as the reviewer says) different settings and a host of features such as the color head-up display or the new touchpad controller for the Comand infotainment system, the new C-Class should be quite a performer in its segment, if not even becoming the leader in some markets.

Getting back to the Dutch from Autoblog, their review of the Mercedes-Benz C 400 4Matic below doesn't exactly bring new things to the table, but it's nice to check out a test drive with the top of the range model for a change.
