The last time our spying friends caught a pre-production prototype of the upcoming AMG GT (C190) with carbon ceramic brakes was back in October 2013.
Since then, the not-yet released Mercedes-Benz sports car has lost a few pounds of extra body-cladding, making its shape appear quite a bit more detailed for the car spies' lenses, while our information about the model is somewhat more detailed.

We now know, for example, that the C190 project will be rather different in scope than the soon-to-be-defunct SLS AMG or the already defunct SLR McLaren.

In short, the AMG GT will not only be flagship sports car of the Mercedes-Benz car lineup, but it will also try to compete with the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type Coupe in terms of units sold, so it will be a much more affordable and more mainstream model than its long-hooded predecessors.

The prototype from the following image gallery was spied in the cold of Northern Sweden and, as you can see, it sports the quad exhaust system and the carbon ceramic brakes, hinting that is the most powerful version of the model.

The Mercedes-AMG GT (C190) is set to be unveiled on July 20, at the Hockenheim German Formula 1 Grand Prix, making us guess that it will replace the SLS AMG as the official F1 safety car from then onwards.
