Media Praises Blockbuster Formula 1

How quickly things change in Formula One! One weekend, everyone screams “boredom”, and the other the same ones praise the high quality and immense show provided by the series. Following a quite boring Bahrain GP – as reviewed by several media Europe-wide – the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday provided overtaking maneuvers for almost the entire season.

Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher starting the race from the rear of the field – due to an incident in the first corner, Lewis Hamilton leaving from 11th place on the grid and Jenson Button's impressive race strategy were only a few highlights of the race. And the international media could not get enough.

Just when it was most urgently needed, the 26th Australian grand prix delivered a race that justified the existence of Formula One,” headlined British publication The Guardian, while The Daily Mail said: “You may have read such doom-laden nonsense here after the last race in Bahrain, but that verdict is now subject to partial revision. This was a riot of action.

There were also some people arguing that this was “probably one of the best ever” Australian Grand Prix, while the New York Times went on to argue that this was at least “one of the most exciting in the past decade.

The UK's Times added that there was “more action in two minutes in Melbourne than in two hours in Bahrain,” while Germany's Auto Motor und Sport headlined that the Great Circus has made the transition from "Formula Yawn to a Blockbuster.

This grand prix is dedicated to all those who, after the first race, screamed to the sky about today's F1,” said Spain's El Pais.

When asked about the race, Fernando Alonso – probably the main figures in the chaotic, yet spectacular Aussie GP – said: “Now, for the people who think that the races are boring, we can finish that conversation for the next two or three grands prix.”
