Earlier today, we reported that McLaren has resumed deliveries of the MP4-12C supercar in Europe, as the company has fixed the software issues that were affecting the vehicle. Now, we're back with more good news for the British supercar, as it has surprisingly managed to avoid the federal gas-guzzler tax.
According to EPA, the 2012 McLaren MP4-12C, which delivers 592 hp, returns 15 mpg during city driving and 22 mpg on the highway cycle and is thus exempted from the aforementioned tax. The carbon fiber vehicle is thus greener than many performance cars.
This is not only a financial win, but also brings extra image points for the Mac, with green being an obsession these days.
However, McLaren will bring the MP4-12C in US showrooms with a delay of a few months, with the car set to go on sale in January 2012. The US will get around 500 units of the supercar.
