McLaren Coming Out with 3 New Models

Though it's been a while since McLaren hasn't come out with a new car, the last time it did, they managed to make car history (does the F1 ring any bells?). Now, after all that silence from McLaren news are starting to pour in.

The lights are on and someone is burning the midnight oil, because CAR magazine has the scoop on not one, not two but three new McLaren models. Though Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mercedes must be shaking in their boots right now, McLaren also plans to release a cheaper, more accessible model. That's going to be interesting to see.

The first project is a $96,000 sports car, an “entry-level” that aims to mix it with the Porsche 911. That's a fight worth watching! This coupe will make use of McLaren's fabrication expertise and composite materials but it's probably not gonna have the same level of craftsmaship as the million dollar F1.

The real question when it comes to this model is what engine is it going to use. The most likely version is the use of an Mercedes Benz unit, seeing as how the two brands worked together so closely for the past years. But right now McLaren isn't ruling out the possibility of developing its own brand new model. That will be even more interesting to watch (and drive).

The other project involves the highly anticipated P11 supercar that has been on everyone's lips for a while now. News has it that it will use a 600 hp motor, a 6.2 liter unit V8 from AMG. As far as design goes, the only thing we know is that Frank Stephenson, the man responsible for the MINI and the Fiat 500, has been made in charge of the project.
