McLaren 570S Rival from Lamborghini Unlikely for Now

It’s pretty obvious that McLaren is trying to diversify its portfolio and make more profits than ever, capitalizing on their P1 model. The Surrey-based company just launched their cheapest model yet and the least powerful one, the 570S and signs are it will sell better than anything they have right now.
That’s because of its price tag that, in absolute numbers, isn’t all that small but compared to other cars that have similar performance figures seems like a great deal. Yes, not everyone can afford to spend in excess of $180,000 on a car but then again this McLaren isn’t for everyone.

Seeing as things are evolving at the moment, other companies could bring out such offerings and we have thought about it on more than one occasion. Lamborghini, Ferrari should be next if you ask us but not according to Lambo’s CEO.

In a recent interview with Car and Driver, Stephan Winkelmann said that if he learned something over the years, it’s to ‘never say never’ when asked about a potential car. However, for now, Lamborghini won’t be entering this price bracket, meaning we won’t see a car with less power and a lower price tag than the Huracan.

The bad news is that we won’t see such a model in the near future. The good news is that Winkelmann didn’t completely rule out such a possibility, which gives us hope, not necessarily to buy one but at least to see the 570S have a proper rival outside the Porsche Turbo S and the Audi R8 V10+.

On a related topic, the CEO did take the time to deny rumors of a potential hybrid car inspired by the Asterion and to nearly confirm that the Lamborghini Urus SUV is close to entering the testing phase.
