Matt Mladin Scatters Away WSBK Rumors

Despite some recent rumors which placed the seven-time AMA Superbike champ in the Reitwagen BMW team for 2010, Matt Mladin yesterday put an end to all speculations that he will return to World Superbike next year.

Some two weeks ago, Mladin fueled speculation of a possible return to racing on a Twitter feed when he said in a December 9 post: “a couple of world superbike offers have come my way in the past month. 1 of them very good in regards to machinery. decisions decisions ;-).”

As we said, the 37-year-old Australian rider recently assured his fans that he will not move to WSBK in 2010 and ironically beggs for the Daytona Motorsports Group to take him back. “No return for MM to racing in World SBK. Please take me back DMG (obi wan), you are my only hope ;-),” the Australian’s Twitter feed reads.

As for Reitwagen BMW team, the first satellite team to prepare BMWs in 2010, the rider lineup has recently been rounded by signing Andrew Pitt, who will ride a BMW S1000RR alongside the already confirmed Roland Resch.

The same statement that revealed Pitt as one of the Reitwagen BMW racer also stated that Johan Stigefelt will be the new technical manager for the team.

The announcement was made the same week it was confirmed that Stigefelt’s own project, Stiggy Racing, has been forced to fold. Stigefelt will therefore be joined by other key members of the Stiggy team for 2010, while former racer Peter Goddard will serve as chassis engineer.
