Massa Vows to Become Title Contender in 2011

For the second time in the last few months, Ferrari's boss Luca di Montezemolo jokingly warned Felipe Massa to get back into winning form with Ferrari, or else his future with the Prancing Horse would not be long. The last time he did that was earlier today, during the launch of Ferrari's new F150 single-seater for the 2011 season.

After calling him “our child,” di Montezemolo told the media that Massa's brother had driven his car through the past couple of seasons, which explains his poor form. However, he said that Massa would return to his cockpit in 2011, hinting that there would be no more room for error for the 29-year old Brazilian.

I have followed the development of the car up until the first race and therefore I really am willing to start this new year,” said Massa during the event in Maranello.

There are a lot of things to learn and understand as quickly as possible, new rules to take into account and this is an additional reason to commit myself to it, I am happy to start the tests this year and I hope this new car will live and grow as quickly as possible.

As Alonso, Massa stressed the importance of having a winning car from the very first race of the season, and promised the tifosi that Ferrari's teamwork would be seen from the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

I think that with the strength of our work we have a competitive car from the first race,” he added.

Our Say: Di Montezemolo should really update his joke agenda, this one with the “brother who jumps in the car instead of the real Ferrari driver” dates back to the Kimi Raikkonen days. Really now...
