Massa Not Afraid of Alonso Challenge

Felipe Massa doesn't seem too worried that he'll be partnering a double world champion at Ferrari next season. Even though Fernando Alonso revealed to the media that his only goal for the season is to take another world crown, the Brazilian driver is convinced he'll be able to match his new teammate.

The expectations as far as my team-mate is concerned I've been living with for many years now. When there's a new driver at Ferrari, there are great expectations and the goal is to work well as a team, to be complete,” said Massa during the car launch event at Maranello yesterday.

Massa has had only world champion teammates until now, starting with Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen (who took his world title while partnering the Brazilian at Ferrari) and now Fernando Alonso. However, he says he doesn't fear the competition, as he learnt something from every champion that he lined up with at Maranello.

I'll have a very strong team-mate. I've always done good work, learned a lot, shown many times that I'm able to win and fight, whoever my team-mate was. Michael is a friend and I learned a lot from him, but on the track we'll be competitors. Although we'll have a good relationship, as always. I'm happy that he's cheering for me,” added the Brazilian driver.

Massa was initially scheduled to take Ferrari's new car to the track yesterday afternoon, but poor weather caused the session to be cancelled and reprogrammed for Friday. The first official test of the off-season will take place on Monday, in Valencia, where again Massa is scheduled to drive the Ferrari F10 first, before handing it over to Alonso for Tuesday and Wednesday.
