Massa Leads the Field as Hamilton Makes Valencia Debut

After the first 2 hours of testing on Tuesday, it is still Felipe Massa who leads the pack of drivers present at the Valencia circuit. The Brazilian was immediately on pace with his Ferrari F10 in the early stages of the morning session, as he reached the 2-hour mark of today's meeting with the best time of 1:11.722.

Coming back to testing after a disappointing first day in Valencia, Renault's Robert Kubica was the first to jump at the top of the timing reports in the morning, improving his Monday times by almost 3 tenths of a second. However, Felipe Massa had other plans for today and quickly got into 1st place overall, reaching the finish line almost 2 and a half seconds ahead of Kubica.

All eyes were then focused on Lewis Hamilton, who debuted on his McLaren Mercedes MP4-25 on Tuesday. However, the Brit was unable to keep the pace of the Ferrari this morning, despite being in the first half of the timing reports throughout the entire morning.

His best time of 1:12.614 is still almost 9 tenths of a second slower than Massa's, as Ham is now resting in 3rd place overall. Curiously enough, BMW Sauber again managed to stun the audience with their impressive C29, as Kamui Kobayashi was only 0.056 seconds from being the second driver to break the 1:12 seconds mark this morning.

After 2 hours in Valencia on Tuesday, Nico Rosberg is 4th overall with the best time of 1:12.899, followed by Robert Kubica (1:13.659), Sebastien Buemi (1:14.862) and Rubens Barrichello (same time as Buemi).

Another thing worth mentioning is that Massa is today trying out the new Schubert-prepared helmet for the Scuderia.
