As if Maserati didn`t have enough on their plate with launching the all-new Quattroporte, developing the smaller Ghibli sedan as well as the Levante SUV and a possible V6/V8 mid-engined car, based on the Alfa Romeo 4C, now it has been suggested by autoweek.nl that they are planning one more car, which is actually quite interesting, in concept.
Apparently, they are developing a new GT car, which would sit above the current Gran Turismo models, and it would be bigger and more powerful. We don`t really have any details on the matter, but it may very well be underpinned by a modified version of the Gran Turismo chassis, which will be made slightly larger. The styling is also expected to follow along the lines of the new Quattroporte, with sleek clean lines and not that many curves.

Engines-wise, it is very likely to get a twin-turbo V8 engine, which will also be used in the top of the range Quattroporte. If this rumor turns out to be true, then Maserati will have a range of at least 5 different models within the next few years, a feat which they have not been able to achieve in years. This also shows their ‘transition into mainstream’, as they will be offering diesel-engiend versions of the sedans.
