In their quest to become more mainstream and substantially increase sales, Maserati will be launching a total of five new models by the year 2015, according to whatcar.com, who recently spoke to Harald Wester, CEO of the famed Italian brand. He has confirmed that these models are real, and that they will arrive as of June 2013, the first of which being the already-revealed all-new Quattroporte.
Following the flagship sedan, Maserati will launch the BMW 5-Series rivaling Ghibli, which is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2013, sporting a fuel-sipping diesel engine, because otherwise it would not sell at all well, in Europe. The engine which will be powering it is most likely the same unit which currently powers the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a three-liter V6 unit, built in Italy by VM Motori.

However, if this 5-Series rival stands any chance to actually make a dent in BMW’s sales, they also need a smaller-displacement diesel, and they should come prepared for this, unlike Jaguar, who only launched a four-pot diesel in the XF sedan (a Ghibli rival, also), some three years after the launch of the car, in order to boost questionable sales in mainland Europe.

Next up will be the Levante SUV, which will make its debut in mid-2014, and it will be followed by two all-new sports cars, one of which will be a smaller and lighter replacement for the current GranTurismo and GranCabrio models, as well as a larger and more powerful front-engined super-GT, which is discussed in more detail here.
