Magny-Cours Wins 2009 WSBK Organizer Award

The circuit of Magny Course, France, has been presented with the 2009 World Superbike Organiser Award by Infront Motor Sports today, as “from a promotional, logistical and sporting point of view, has guaranteed the required standards that helped everyone in the Superbike paddock to work in the best possible way.”

"I express my warmest and most sincere congratulations to the Magny-Cours circuit management and all its staff, who have demonstrated that they fully believe in and wish to invest in our championship," stated Paolo Flammini, Infront Motor Sports CEO, in a release.

The Never Magny-Cours Circuit, owned by the Conseil General de la Nievre, was set up 40 years ago. The small karting track evolved rapidly into a race track of national status hosting the first driving school in France (the Winfield school), and then it gained its international reputation with the arrival of the French F1 Grand Prix in 1991.

Most corners are named after other racing circuits, e.g. the fast Estoril corner and the Adelaide hairpin. It has a mix of slow corners and high-speed sections which includes a very fast dash to the first-gear Adelaide hairpin.

Moreover, the 2009 World Superbike Media Award has been assigned to the Misano World Circuit for providing the media with an opportunity to work in the best possible conditions and therefore to promote the Championship, thanks to the facilities and services available at the circuit.

The 2010 San Marino Round of the Superbike World Championship at the Misano World Circuit will take place on June 27, while the French Round at Magny-Cours is scheduled for October 3.
