Thanks to BMW not even world records are safe any more. The M5 Hurricane shattered the record for the world's fasted sedan that was previously held by the Brabus rocket. In November 2008 the 750 horsepower strong G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS reached a top speed of 228,4 mph, clocked and certified at the ATP High-Seed test track in Papenburg.
With this performance the M5 Hurricane broke the existing record of 227,2 mph and claimed domination on the title as the world's fastest sedan. The record was achieved with a 20 hp stronger evolution of the G-Power M5 Hurricane which was clocked with 223,7 mph earlier in the year and held the record for the fastest BMW sedan in the world.
The extra grunt which the M5 Hurricane needed is the result of two heavily modified superchargers from G-Power technology, with enlarged capacity, thus allowing the boost level of the G-Power BI-Kompressor system to be raised from 0,7 bar rel. to 0,8 bar rel.
But believe it or not, the G-Power BI-Kompressor system still has enough resources to give. CEO and engineer Christian Stöber said: ” …we can rise the boost level up to 1,0 bar rel. and more.” Having the same opinion CEO Zoran Zormeke said: ” we can still improve, if we see the need for it.”
The G-Power Hurricane is available starting at 240,000 Euros. Any existing M5 sedan and wagon can be upgraded with the G-Power twin-compressor system which is available for 89,000 Euros. The price will include all necessary modification that the car will have to undergo to the suspension and braking system, as well as the wheels.
