Lotus Elise Club Racer to Debut at IAA

British manufacturer Lotus announced it will be presenting at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show a special edition of the Lotus Elise. Dubbed Club Racer, the special edition combines the classic color schemes used by Lotus back in the 1960s - Elite Yellow, Carbon Grey, Sky Blue and Old English White – into a single, new Lotus interior. No alterations have been made to the cars performances. However, Lotus hopes the unique interior will make all the difference. The alterations brought to the interior include Elise seats clad with lightweight microfiber pads, anthracite anodized gear knob and handbrake sleeve, the Club Racer (CR) logo hand embroidered on the seat headrest and anodized aluminum flooring. For better handling, Lotus provides a leather rimmed steering wheel which features an on-center marker, enabling the driver to identify the straight ahead position of the front wheels. All four wheels are six spoke anthracite anodized alloys, shoed in Yokohama AD07 LTS tires. Special Editions of the award winning Elise have always proved popular with our customers around the world, and I expect the Elise Club Racer to be no different. We have taken colour schemes from our past, used on the Elite and Elan in the 1960s and cleverly brought them up to date with a modern feel to the interior. The whole design package is modern with a classic twist, which of course matches the peerless ride and handling of a Lotus and the convertible experience of the Elise perfectly,” Luke Bennett, Lotus Cars director said in a release. The Club Racer is based on the 134 hp Elise S. It will go on sale on September 15 and is priced at around 34,000 euros, depending on where you are located. autoevolution will be attending the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions.
