Lorenzo's Manager Explains Yamaha Exit

Apart from losing the chance to become world champion this year, as there are slim chances of him surging back into the title fight with 2 races to go in the championship, Jorge Lorenzo will also lose his manager. As confirmed by Daniele Romagnoli prior to the Aussie Grand Prix last week, the Italian will leave Fiat Yamaha Team all together at the end of 2009.

However, for those of you who thought the Italian official left Yamaha because of some sort of a conflict between him and Lorenzo, know that Romagnoli was in fact unhappy with the team managing role within the organization. Rarely we've seen people unhappy in team-leading positions, but apparently that's that's exactly the case with Romagnoli.

He insisted that he doesn't think he fits the job description and revealed that being a simple technician is all he had looked for in a job within the MotoGP. Therefore, he'll try to land such a job elsewhere in 2010, as he reckons there's no turning back to his decision to leave Yamaha's factory team.

The problem is that I'm a technician, I come from a completely different background. When Jorge arrived at Yamaha, I was asked to do a job that isn't mine: the team manager. I don't like organizing, managing, spending the day sending emails. I like action,” Romagnoli was quoted as saying in an interview with Motosprint magazine.

There's no chance of staying with Yamaha because there are no technical role vacancies: the team has everything it needs. There are a lot of competent, capable people, who work well together. I have contacts with several teams, so we'll see what fruits that will bare in the upcoming races,” added the Italian official.

Yamaha is yet to appoint a team manager for Lorenzo, as the Spanish has been confirmed at Yamaha for another season in 2010.
