Lola Cars International Ltd. has just released the first details of its new LMP2 car for the 2011 season. The interested teams will now have a chance to evaluate the design of the new prototype, which complies with the new technical regulations of the upcoming season and will compete in series like the ALMS, LMS and Le Mans 24 Hours.

The prototype had to be built in such a way that it integrates the 2011 spec production GT engines – BMW, Ford, HPD, Jaguar, Judd, Nissan and Toyota are all potential suppliers of units – therefore the B11/80 features a longer wheelbase than its predecessor. That's because some of these engines are longer or bigger than the powerplants used this season.

In terms of safety, the cabin of the Coupe model has been fitted with some additional features aimed not only to improve the safety of its drivers, but also enhance comfort. According to the Lola press release, “current and new Lola teams will be offered access to the Lola customer support centre.”

(...) The championship winning B10/80 will also continue to be available but with a limited range of engine options. I am delighted that Lola is once again evidencing its ongoing commitment to Sports Prototype racing, a trend I started in 1998 with the B98/10, with a full compliment of products now available to our customers,” said Lola’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Martin Birrane.

According to the statement from Lola, the 2011-spec LMP2 car will be available to the interested teams at the same price the 2010-spec car was before the current season. Take a look at the pics to get a glimpse of how Lola cars will look like next season.
