Liuzzi Hails New Start with Force India

Vitantonio Liuzzi will start his first season as a full-time race driver in Formula One in 3 years, after being confirmed by Force India for the 2010 campaign. However, according to the 28-year old Italian racer, this is actually the first time he'll feel comfortable driving a Formula One car, as the atmosphere at the Silverstone-based factory makes him confident he can fully succeed in 2010.

In Force India I feel really good, the atmosphere is great and the team works well together. Even when I was in a difficult position last year as a test driver they were very supportive and I've built a good strong relationship with them,” said Liuzzi.

I feel like I'm in a family and for sure much better environment than I have been in the past. This year is a new start for me. I'm a different person from two years ago and I am approaching it from a different mentality. It's a different Tonio and I'm looking forward to what can come. I'm still young and have a lot of time in front of me so I just want to prove what I can do,” added the Italian driver.

Liuzzi has first raced in F1 at Red Bull Racing, where he scored a point in his first race in the season. Later on, the Italian was replaced by the Austrian outfit with Christian Klien, after which he was “demoted” to race driver for Red Bull's sister team Scuderia Toro Rosso. Two harsh seasons followed for Liuzzi, who was eventually ousted by the Faenza based team at the end of 2007, to make room for Sebastien Bourdais.

Last year, Liuzzi replaced Giancarlo Fisichella at Force India for the remaining 5 rounds of the 2009 championship. His first impression was the best, as he qualified 7th on the grid and ran as high as 3rd place at a certain point in the Italian Grand Prix, before a gearbox failure ended his race. He is yet to score a point for the Indian outfit.
