It seems that Lincoln is considering using the rear-wheel drive platform of the next-generation Mustang, with the company looking to build a four-door sedan on this. The resulting vehicle would have a MacPherson front suspension and an independent rear suspension. Ford will make sure that the next Mustang is a huge step forward in terms of driving dynamics, so the Lincoln model should also benefit from this.
Thus, the car will probably be a competitor for sporty models such as the BMW 3-Series and Cadillac ATS. However, it could also be a larger development, thus targeting the BMW 5-Series and Cadillac CTS.
Cadillac has big plans for the upcoming model, as its current contenders in the aforementioned segments, the MKX and the MKS, respectively, aren’t too competitive and the automotive producer is looking to change that.
