Limited Edition Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 to Star in Geneva

Peugeot will attend the 2011 Geneva Auto Show in March with several new goodies, including a limited edition 3008 HYbrid4 that will be available for ordering only from the first day of the Swiss venue. Although it is called a "limited edition" and only 300 units will be built, the model to be showcased in Geneva only comes in Pearlescent White and with two-tone full leather trim.

The French manufacturer hasn't mentioned anything else, so the two changes we mentioned above are the only "special" features that make the 3008 HYbrid4 a limited edition.

The car, self-entitled the world's first diesel hybrid, will go on sale in mid-2011 and will boast a 2.0-liter diesel engine releasing 163 hp (120 kW) powering the front wheels. The rear wheels on the other hand will be put in motion by an electric motor that generates an additional 37 horsepower (27 kW), which makes the car a full all-wheel drive with 200 horsepower.

Fuel consumption is indeed impressive, as the car can achieve an estimated rating of 3.8 liters per 100 km (74.3 mpg), according to official data provided by the French manufacturer.

The HYbrid4 powertrain provides the car with four operating modes selectable by a control selector installed on the centre console: Auto, ZEV, 4WD and Sport. In addition, the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 comes with a specially designed system for recovering kinetic energy during braking, the Start & Stop and batteries - which are placed under the luggage compartment - using the technology Ni-MH Nickel Metal Hydride.

autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
