German eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) Lilium is already making plans for the time when its global fleet will expand, and these plans include a strategic collaboration with AJW Group.
As one of the most exciting and innovative products in the emerging AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) industry, the Lilium Jet is sure to be met with a growing customer demand. An expanding fleet across the globe also implies a well-developed Aftermarket Service Business, which includes things like training, in-service support, ground operations, and material management. That's where AJW comes in – the reputable aircraft component parts, repair, and supply chain solutions provider was officially confirmed as Lilium's material management partner.

What makes the Lilium Jet innovative is the proprietary DEVT (Ducted Electric Vectored Thrust) technology that is supposed to improve several parameters, including aerodynamic efficiency and noise profile, while also making the electric aircraft easier to maneuver. The German company wanted to adapt the existing jet engine technology to electric propulsion. As a result, this eVTOL jet or power-lift eVTOL incorporates a single-stage rotor/stator system driven by an electric motor, with engines integrated into its wing flaps.

In nearly ten years, the German startup has successfully tested five generations of its eVTOL jet. The flexible platform can be configured as a six-passenger air taxi, a luxury private jet, or a cargo aircraft. The private jet version, which is said to be launched in Europe as the Lilium Pioneer Edition Jet, will reportedly cost somewhere between $7 to $10 million. It will sport a high-end, ultra-comfortable cabin with multiple customizations available.

Lilium has already secured top-tier partners worldwide. For instance, the Dubai-based ArcosJet brokerage company was confirmed as the exclusive official dealership for private sales of the Lilium Jet to customers across UAE, Israel, and Cyprus. In the US, private customers will have access to the German eVTOL jet through EMCJET, a Texas-based brokerage company. The eVTOL will initially be available to customers in Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio and gradually expand its network.

When it comes to battery cells, Lilium has secured partnerships with Customcells and InoBat. InoBat will produce battery cells for the eVTOL jet at two facilities in Slovakia. One of them is set to start production this year, while the second one will be adapted for large-scale production in the future. InoBat will get support from Gotion High-Tech, known as the battery cell supplier for nearly 80% of all Volkswagen Group's electric vehicles. The Customcells battery cells, on the other hand, will be produced in Tubingen, Germany.

Lilium started manufacturing its first aircraft in late 2023 and is gearing up to enter commercial service in Europe as soon as next year, based on the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) approval.
