Liberty Electric Launches Luxury SUV

Electric cars are more and more popular each day, with conversions, new models, new battery technologies and new chargers coming out on a daily basis. For the luxury SUV customer who thought there is no EV out there to fit his needs, Liberty Electric Cars (LEC) has launched an electric SUV called the E-Range.

The E-Range is based on the acclaimed Range Rover and offers an impressive package of performance, range and comfort, neatly wrapped in the iconic SUV's body. The E-Range sprints from 0 to 60 (97km/h) in about 7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h). The vehicle has a maximum range of 200 miles (320 km) on one single charge.

The electric SUV is powered by four electric motors, one for each wheel, thus preserving the four-wheel drive capability. For energy storage LEC used their own patented battery design and came up with a remarkable 75Kwh Lithium polymer battery that's lighter than many lower capacity packs.

The charging method is also remarkable, the E-Range allowing for wireless charging. The car is simply parked in a driveway over an induction plate and charges automatically without the need for plugs. The EV can also be charged in a normal fashion or using a fast charger.

The E-Range is the first large, luxury vehicle that is 100 per cent zero emission yet performs as well – and in some cases even better – than any combustion-engine equivalent available on the market today” says Barry Shrier, CEO of Liberty Electric Cars.

You might be thinking "Wow, this is unbelievable why don't they use that kind of technology in all EVs?". Well EV technology is still quite expensive, reflecting in the E-Range's price tag: GBP 160,000 (about US$251,000). Thats almost GBP 100,000 (about US $155,000) over the internal-combustion version that spawned the E-Range.
