The gauge cluster... The most useful thing in a car after the steering wheel, pedals and shifter. They come in all shapes and sizes, using all sorts of tricks and technological features to display you the information needed when driving.
And while back in the days the majority of them were simple mechanical/electric dials and some lights sticked behind the main panel in order to see the numbers in the dark, nowadays, your eyes are bombarded with high resolution customizable displays, with video-game-like graphics and space age technology running behind them.
But even with all that mind boggling electric wizardry, some of them are too cluttered or ugly, making the data hard to read when you are driving fast, with your eyes jumping from place to place from a number to a graph or a smaller number, making them tire from all the back and forth movement.
Not with the Lexus LFA gauge though, which has been specially designed to offer all the information needed in one digital dial and four little add-on panels that surround it. Its design is minimalistic and suave lightning filling up the main ring, which also changes color depending on the engine’s revs.
It’s simple, cool and Jalopnik readers said is the best around. Even cooler than that is the fact that you can still have a similar one in the 2014 Lexus IS F Sport.
