Normally, superacars have to be Italian in nature in order to succeed. Sure, you might get away with making it in England or Germany, but if you’re going to build one in Poland, you’re in trouble. That’s because if you’re going to pay six-figure sums, you’re never going to trust an upstart company with no history in the business.
The latest wannabe exotic comes not from Spain, Holland or Switzerland, but from a land far, far away: Lebanon. We usually associate them with cooking or bombings, but a Lebanese company called W Motors has teased two supercars which it plans to launch by the end of 2013.
The first car is going to be called the Hyper-Sport and its production will be strictly limited to five examples. W Motors says it will have diamonds in the headlights and a gold-plated hood.
To add a bit of credibly to this scarcely believable project, the Lebanese company has enlisted the help of renowned names in the auto industry, like Magna-Steyr and German tuner RUF Automobiles.
Power for this carbon-fiber built car will come from a mid-mounted twin-turbo V6 delivering 750 horsepower. Proposed performance figures include a zero to 62 mph time of just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 239 miles per hour.
