The reason that the rumors of a Lamborghini SUV have been spreading so fast is that... people actually want one and the images leaked by Italian publication QuattroRuote seem legitimate. But the only report coming our way from the manufacturer sounded like it denied the rumors, though it likely only meant that a production decision has not been reached.
Even if Lamborghini is keeping silent, Audi isn’t, and they are largely responsible for SUVs in VW Group. According to AutoWeek, Ingolstadt says the SUV is indeed in the works, adding that media reports are mostly true, so the pictures we’re showing you show the real deal.

"I can't comment in detail but the speculation in the press is largely correct," an Audi manager responded when asked about reports of a successor to the Lamborghini LM002. The source also added that the four-door Estoque can’t be ruled out either, as the battle between the two is ongoing, and it might arrive further down the line.

The Lambo SUV is expected to debut at the 2012 Shanghai Auto Show in April, where it will be shown as a concept powered by a front-mounted 5.2-liter V10 borrowed from the Gallardo. Rumors regarding the engine range have intensified, adding the Audi 6.0-liter V12 diesel and 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 to the fray, besides the hybrid drivetrain that that initially speculated.
