Lamborghini Gallardo Turns to Dust after Crash

There's nothing more exciting for an automotive enthusiast than to see a supercar speed away, with the roaring sound of a turbo, or even better, twin-turbo engine fading away in the distance.

It's all about speeds with these cars and, for most of the time, that is all that matters. Unfortunately, as it happened this last weekend at the Texas Mile, at times it's very hard to bring those supercars to a safe stop.

Underground Racing, owners of several Lamborghini supercars, all equipped with twin-turbo engines, took one Gallardo to the aforementioned track for a run. It all went perfect, the car sounds great and looks awesome.

But, when it comes to stopping it, the Gallardo fights back. When the driver of the car opens the chute, after a quarter-mile run, the car becomes uncontrollable and ends up spinning out of control and through the air on the field beside the track.

The supercar, as you can see in the video below, was pretty much trashed. Fortunately, and quite amazingly, the driver of the car survived. According to Jalopnik, he walked away on his own.

As the reason behind the crash, those present speculate that a gasp of strong side wind hit the chute deployed behind the car and managed to overcome the power of the engine. Instead of going forward, the car was pushed to the side. As soon as it exited the track, the Gallardo was a goner.

All the action can be seen in the video attached below and snapped by one of those present at the scene.
