It looks like Italians are doing a pretty nifty job at selling supercars these days. While Ferrari announced record profits last month, despite of the Prancing Horse selling fewer vehicles, it is now Lamborghini’s turn to enter the spotlight. 2013 was Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary year and the company celebrated by recording a record revenue.
Lamborghini’s revenue grew by 8 percent during the 2013 fiscal year, going from EUR 469 million (US$ 649.5) to EUR 508 million (US$ 703.5 million). This was Lambo’s sixth consecutive revenue increase year.

In spite of the Gallardo’s retirement last year, Lamborghini pushed more cars in 2013, with customer deliveries rising from 2,083 to 2,121 units - this was the third consecutive yearly increase. 1,001 of these were Aventadors, with the V12-powered supercar seeing a 9 percent increase compared to 2012. By the way, the waiting list for both the Aventador Coupe and Roadster still stands at 12 months.

Nevertheless, the Gallardo managed to convince 1,120 customers in its last year of production, so it didn’t fall too far behind the 1,161 figure registered a year before.

Americas are still the hottest spot on Lamborghini’s global sales map, accounting fro 36 percent of the sales. Nevertheless, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) followed closely wit h34 percents, while the remaining 30 percent were spread among the Asia Pacific markets.

Lamborghini explains it has invested 20 percent of the aforementioned turnover. For instance, it hired 100 specialists in Sant’Agata Bolognese, so the world now holds a total of 1,029 employees.
