If Akrapovic is the company to go for when you need a better exhaust sound, KW is the one you call for a new suspension. The guys are known as some of the best in the business and their parts are being used even in motorsport events. The aftermarket developer has just announced the release of three new coilover kits for the BMW 4 Series Convertible.

The Variant 1 coilover kit comes preconfigured from factory and cannot be adjusted. However, it does add better stability to the car’s dynamics, despite the extra weight of the retractable hardtop. Basically, if you’re not into modifying you car on the regular, this is the system you’ll want.

As for the other two kits, you get to pick between the Variant 2 model that allows 16-click adjustable damping and the Variant 3 version that on top of that. This allows you to adjust the compression as well in 12 stages (12 clicks).

All of them, however, drop your car’s ride height by a considerable margin, somewhere between 40 and 65 millimeters on both axles. Unfortunately, support for xDrive vehicles isn’t available at the moment but will be in the near future.

“With KW coilovers fitted drivers will benefit from technology that is derived from our motorsport department onto the road” explains KW product manager Johannes Wacker.

“Lots of BMW race cars like the BMW Z4 FR3 and M325i Racing Cup are equipped with KW dampers, and similar to motorsport suspensions the Variant 3 benefits from adjustable rebound and compression damping,” he added.
