A while back, KW was amongst the first companies to launch a set of aftermarket coilovers for the brand new 2 Series and its high-performance model, the M235i. Launched in 3 variants, they provided the extra stability the cars needed but had one downside: no possibility of electronically adjusting them.
That’s no longer an issue, as the Germans just announced that they are now offering electronic damping options for the 2 Series range, called DDC. They are plug&play and easy to install, according to the company’s press release.

Of course, as we got used to by now, the adaptive suspension comes with stainless steel coilover bodies and is fully compatible with BMW’s electronics. That means, the adjustment will be made using the on-board, standard buttons of your car, with no extra buttons being needed. For a better stance and an impressive look, the car’s ride height can also be lowered between 25 and 50 millimeters.

"When choosing the sport mode, the BMW 2-series feels much more direct and agile with the DDC coilovers. If that's too sporty for the road condition, simply press the original BMW button and within five milliseconds, the KW damper will switch ride mode to comfort", explains KW Product Manager Johannes Wacker.

The complete suspension control works via the original sensors which in turn control the KW valves. That means that the installation process should be easy enough, as it involves just replacing the suspension and reconnecting the original plugs back in. The DDC electronically adjustable coilovers for the 2 Series cost €2,500 in Europe. The US pricing and availability hasn’t been announced just yet.
