The collaboration between Kumho and Daimler AG dates back to 2007, when the South Korean tire company was chosen as OE (Original Equipment) for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
The partnership was extended in recent years to include the Viano X-Clusive, the Sprinter Van and the G-Class Guard, while the Actros and the smart fortwo are also fitted with Kumho tires in standard on the South Korean market.

The regular Mercedes-Benz G-Class just received the Kumho Solus KL21 tire in size 265/60 R18 110H as original equipment. The all-purpose touring tire has a symmetric tread pattern and is said to ensure a low rolling resistance, improved traction and a better longevity.

Before being fitted to the G-Class, the KL21 was already available on the aftermarket in sizes from 16 to 20 inches and is the second South Korean tire brand to be fitted on Mercedes-Benz vehicles as original equipment, along with two different models from Hankook.
