Kubica to Undergo Second Surgery This Week

Lotus Renault have issued another positive update on the medical situation of their F1 driver Robert Kubica on Tuesday. According to a statement from the Enstone based team, the Polish driver's condition has bettered and the recovery of his affected forearm is encouraging.

Additionally, it was today confirmed that Kubica will undergo another surgery later this week, in order to stabilize the fractures sustained in his right shoulder and right foot. According to official info, that operation is to be held on Thursday.

And that will not be all for Kubica, as the Pole is to be subjected to a third (and probably final) intervention a few days after, in order to stabilize his elbow fracture as well. For the time being, the medical staff at Santa Corona Hospital is yet to issue a final verdict on Kubica's recuperation process or the way recovery goes. It is believed the Pole will spend from 2 to 3 weeks in the hospital.

“He has reacted well to the news about his condition and is ready to fight for his comeback. Robert will remain at the Santa Corona Hospital for two to three weeks. A decision will then be taken about where he should go in order to continue his rehabilitation,” added the statement from Renault.

Several figures have visited Kubica while in teh hospital these days, including poker buddy Fernando Alonso, former F1 manager Flavio Briatore, Force India's ousted Vitantonio Liuzzi (who is apparently in line for a potential grab of vacancy at Renault) and teammate Vitaly Petrov.
