Karim Benzema Crashes Audi, Escapes Unharmed

Real Madrid’s striker Karim Benzema was on his way home from his team’s defeat to Barcelona on Sunday, when he crashed his Audi Q7. Fortunately, the French reportedly escaped unharmed from the car accident, Mediafax reported, but the vehicle was seriously damaged.

The 21-year-old football player was introduced with half an hour remaining at the Nou Camp last night in the match between Real Madrid and Barcelona and, as he was probably too upset on his team loosing the match, he did not notice the barrier he hit while driving at speeds of less than 30mph. Enough, apparently, for the airbags of his Audi to deploy.

Benzema was the top scorer in the French league during 2007 and 2008, but has struggled to impress since he moved to Madrid from French side Lyon in July for £30 million, having scored just four goals in 13 games for the Spanish club.

Recently, the Galactics received their new rides, with the Audi Q7, Audi A5 Cabrio and Audi RS 6 among the highest ranked models.

Led by Christoph Metzelder, Xavi Alonso and Kaka, the squad completed a driving safety training program on snow, including a slalom course and maneuvering drive with the Audi A5 coupe and TTS, at the Xanadu Snow Park, an 18,000-square meter ski hall on the outskirts of Madrid. Apparently, the course was not enough for Benzema...

Another renown sportsmen was recently involved in a single-car accident last week. World's greatest golf player Tiger Woods hit a fire hydrant and then a tree as he pulled out of the driveway next to his home. Woods, though seriously injured, was released from hospital in good condition after treatment.
