Junior Seau Drives Cadillac Escalade Off Cliff

Former NFL linebacker Junior Seau is going through some rough days, after a series of events concluded on Monday with him driving a white Cadillac Escalade off a cliff in Carlsbad, California.

The problems for the 41-year old player who ended his career in 2009 for the New England Patriots started on Sunday evening, when police arrested him in Oceanside on domestic violence charges filed by his unnamed 25-year old girlfriend.

Seau was released soon after his arrest, after posting his bail. A few hours later, police had to respond to a crash in Carlsbad, California. They found the same Junior Seau in a white Escalade, crashed at a bottom of a 30-foot cliff on the beach.

"Preliminary investigation shows the vehicle left the roadway and traveled over the cliff, landing on the beach below...” said a Carlsbad police statement cited by Inside Line.

“The vehicle was only occupied by the driver, a male who was identified as Junior Seau.... Investigation is continuing into how and why the accident occurred."

According to reports, Seau suffered some injuries, but none life-threatening, having been taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital in San Diego. Richard Doan, a man working for Seau's foundation, says however that the linebacker is not hurt.

“At this point, we think he’s fine, but we really don’t have any comment,” he told telegram.com “There are no injuries, but he seems to be a little shaken up.”

Seau played for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. His career spans for some 20 years.
