Joe Cole's Wife Carjacked by Motorcycle Gang

Liverpool footballer Joe Cole got his driving license suspended for 50 days this week after being clocked in November 2009 while driving at 105 mph (168 km/h) on a 70 mph section of road (112 km/h) in Claygate, Surrey.

Yet, this is not the big news which surfaced today, but the fact that his wife, 26-year old Carly Zucker, was carjacked in the beginning of the month by a group of eight thugs on motorcycles.

It all became public after Cole appealed the decision, which also called for a 750 pounds fine ($1,156, EUR910), on the grounds that his wife is too traumatized to drive after the incident.

According to The Scotland Yard, the incident occurred on August 8, when officers were called to Cole's house as a result of the theft of an Audi A4 belonging to the family.

"The victim was not injured in the incident. Enquiries are on-going and there have been no arrests at present,"
the law enforcement agency was quoted as saying by British publication The Sun.

Cole's lawyer Nick Freeman argued in front of chairman of the bench John Neary from the Staines Magistrates' Court that Cole needs to keep his driver's license because the couple, who recently became parents, just moved from Chelsea to Liverpool.

"She is 26 and has been severely traumatized by this incident to the extent that she has not driven a car since,"
  the lawyer added.

The court apparently agreed with the lawyer known as Mr. Loophole and decided to suspend the sentence and fine until an appeal is launched.
