JLR Gets CommunityMark Award

As a premiere for what is considered the national standard of excellence for community investment, the Business in the Community gave British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) the CommunityMark award for several of its endeavors this year.

The organization decided to go the JLR way after analyzing the investment in community programs made by the carmaker. What weighed heavily in JLR's favor were the five Education Business Partnership Centres, employee volunteering programs and national educational initiatives.

"Jaguar Land Rover has a well established community programme across the UK, with a particular focus on the areas surrounding our operating facilities,” said Jaguar Land Rover executive director Mike Wright.

“Each year hundreds of our employees get involved in their local communities and take part in educational, environmental and charity projects. Becoming the first car manufacturer to achieve the CommunityMark is excellent news for those employees and of course, exceptional external recognition for Jaguar Land Rover."

The award, an important one in the UK, is endorsed by HRH The Prince of Wales and has so far been awarded to 38 British companies since its introduction in 2008. This award is however not the first for JLR. Back in March this year, the company has been named Asia Business of the Year.

“During a considerably tough year these four organizations have proved that continuing to listen, engage and respond to the needs of your community reinforces the fact that excellence in community investment not only has a positive and valuable impact on society, but translates to real business benefits,”
added Business in the Community CEO Stephen Howard.
