Following the moving of Dave Rogers to the position of crew chief for Joe Gibbs Racing's (JGR) No. 18 Cup Series team back in November, the team announced the replacement for the slot left on the No. 20 Nationwide Series entry.
The man who will take charge of No. 20 Toyota is Kevin Kidd, a four year veteran who until now worked with Richard Petty Motorsports. His previous experience includes the 2008 Nationwide series season as crew chief for Chase Miller and a car chief for Penske Jasper Racing.
The car which will be handled by Kidd is sponsored by GameStop, Interstate Batteries, SportClips, and Pizza Ranch. The drivers most likely to take a seat behind the wheel are Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin and Matt DiBenedetto. The team which he will take over managed a strong performance in 2009, following the high achieved in 2008, when JGR's No. 20 got the Owner’s Championship.
"We're excited to have Kevin join our team here at JGR," J.D. Gibbs, president of JGR told NASCAR. "We already have a great team in place and Kevin will provide great leadership to them. His experience and knowledge should help keep us up front where our sponsors deserve to be each week."
Kidd's naming comes after NASCAR announced the Nationwide Series "will institute crew member limits similar to the program the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series utilized last season.” Simply put, crews will have a limit of at most 15 members for each event, including he driver, crew chief, spotter and seven over-the-wall team members.
